ABOUT JEN

I understand that therapy is personal. It is especially important that when you first make the choice to enter counseling, that you can connect and feel comfortable with your therapist. Therapists are not a one-size-fits all; what works for some may not work for others. Please feel free to ask me any therapy related questions you may have to determine if I am the right fit for you.

San Diego marriage and family therapist

Jen Zajac, MS, MFT  #97747

M.S. in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

In one of my first efforts to assist others, I volunteered as a “helper” at an organization to help those with severe cases of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder in an effort to help them be integrated back into a normal life. The helpers at the center offered informal counseling, technical and computer training, and aided in job and housing searches for those that attended. I can’t imagine a better feeling than to be part of a process to help someone achieve life changing goals. During graduate school, I worked at a Practicum site that offers counseling services to members of a small community. The organization’s clientele included referrals from the local public school district and police department as well as self-referrals. I had the opportunity to work with students as young as five years old, to families and couples with a wide range of presenting problems. I personally worked on cases involving drug and alcohol abuse/dependence, adjustment disorders, phobias, anxiety disorders, and family communication conflicts as it relates to divorce and trust/mistrust issues. I also had the opportunity to discuss facts and misconceptions about drug and alcohol abuse/dependence with middle school and high school classes.

Currently, I have completed over 5,000 hours of clinical experience, which includes child therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, and couples therapy.  In my treatments I have implemented a range of Family Systems Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

My private practice focus has been on couples therapy- from dating couples, married couples, and those going through relationship transitions. I am passionate about helping couples find a renewed connection with each other and flourish in their rekindled love. I want to meet you and hear your story!
